Join the team! We are always open to hosting applicants for external funding, or self-funded students. Positions for which funding has already been secured are listed below:

  • Two fully-funded PhD positions are currently available [full details]: As part of the GlycoMetalGuard project, funded by Research Ireland, two roles are available to start September 2026. Applicants should submit the required documents to this Application Form before 30 March 2026. These projects are in synthetic chemistry of glycoconjugate metal complexes and functional polymers, for antimicrobial applications.
  • No funded postdoc positions are currently available. If any arise, the will be posted on https://www.ucd.ie/workatucd/jobs/. Candidates must have strong experience in synthetic chemistry, with a preference for bioinorganic or glycoconjugate synthesis experience.

Applying for your own scholarship or fellowship:

  • Externally-funded PhD projects. If you would like to apply for a scholarship to join the group and work on a topic of your choice (e.g. supramolecular chemistry, carbohydrate/organic synthesis, coordination chemistry, antimicrobial research), please consider the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship (opens October each year) or China Scholarship Scheme (opens in November each year)
  • We would welcome any potential Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellows MSCA-PF or Government of Ireland postdoc prospective applicants who want to write a project proposal in the area of applying carbohydrate-functionalised metal complexes, or related areas.

Informal enquiries are welcome, but due to high volume, replies are not guaranteed if your background is out of scope for the research group.
